Melanie Haiken is that rare entity, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. She grew up in Mill Valley, California and attended Stanford University and U.C. Berkeley. (B.A. English literature.) After a year teaching English in Kathmandu, Nepal, she worked for several years as a writer and editor in marketing and corporate communications.
Nine years ago she launched a freelance consulting business as a magazine writer and Website content developer. Her specialties include health, wellness and nutrition; travel; and entrepreneurial and green business. She's published hundreds of stories in national magazines and contributed to many major consumer Websites. In addition, she's created Website content and consumer-oriented marketing materials for an impressive roster of clients. She's written newsletters, rewritten books, and helped develop an ambitious patient and employee communication campaign for one of the country's biggest HMOs. And she's won prizes and been selected for membership in the prestigious American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) and the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW). Downloadable photos
